How is it calculated?

Increase = amount × percent / 100. New = amount + increase.

new = amount × (1 + percent/100)

Example

50,000 + 20% → 60,000.

Guide

Apply a percentage increase to an amount to get the raise and the new total. Not the same as profit margin. Informational only.

How markup / raise maths works

Increase = amount × rate/100; new = amount + increase. Keep VAT-inclusive bases consistent.

2026 notes and common mistakes

Stacking raises additively instead of sequentially understates compounding. Do not equate markup with margin.

Tips

  • Apply successive raises one after another.
  • For information only—confirm payroll or price lists.
